This extremely early Smith & Wesson U.S. Model 1917 revolver is serial number 1693. It is in very fine to excellent condition. The 5.5"" round 45 ACP (or 45 Auto Rim) caliber barrel has an excellent bore. The markings are standard with the bottom of the grip strap being marked U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1917 with No/1/693 below. The hammer exhibits the circular machine marks found on only the earliest S&W Model 1917 revolvers. The gun retains approx. 95% blue with the grip straps turning brown. The trigger and hammer have strong case colors. The grips are excellent with very light usage wear, original finish, and no cracks or chips. The action functions correctly. This is a super very early S&W Model 1917. Don't miss it!
