GREAT FACTORY LETTER AND ALMOST NEVER SEEN 2” PRE-WAR .38 MILITARY & POLICE MODEL OF 1905, 4TH CHANGE, #672XXX, SHIPPED 1938. The S&W factory letter (I lettered this one) states: “…#672XXX was shipped from our factory on November 7, 1938 and delivered to Harry Goldstein Co., Tulsa, OK. The records indicate that it was shipped with a 2 inch barrel, blue finish, and checkered black hard rubber round butt grips. This shipment contained a single unit of this model was billed at the wholesale price of $19.38. The handgun was ordered for the state of Oklahoma.” Very few 2” M&Ps were shipped pre-war as the earliest shipment was during the Great Depression in 1934 and none were made in this style after W.W.II. Why this one was ordered as a single unit for the state of Oklahoma is worth investigating! This example shows light blue wear- mainly some edge wear/holster wear and some thinning (not badly) on the back strap. Numbers match, exc. mech. And bore, exc. markings, grips show light wear. One of the hardest of the M&P series to find! I’m sure there is good history in this "snubby".
