About Us: Joe Salter has been in the Antique and Collector Weapons business for 60 years as both a collector and dealer. Our company is based in Southern New Hampshire and we have had an internet based store front for the past 20 years.
We are federally licensed and deal in all types of firearms and related material.
Description:
Serial #C312175, .38 Special, 5" barrel with an excellent, bright bore.
This is a handsome revolver, made ca. 1950, that has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder, yoke, and extractor.
The metal retains 95-97% of the original blue finish, with some silvering at the muzzle and sides of the barrel, some further silvering along the high and exposed edges, as well as some minor freckling along the butt.
There is a mild turn-ring on the cylinder, and the ejector rod has a mixed blue-gray patina.
The hammer and trigger retain a commensurate amount of original color case-hardening as well.
The checkered, diamond-center grips are original and numbered to the gun on the interior.
They are in very good-near fine shape, but do have some minor marks and blemishes, as well as some mild flattening of the points.
The backstrap is marked with an unknown police department issue number: "UPD 173".
This is a fine-near excellent example of a little-used police marked S&W, and would make a great addition to a collection.
