S&W M&P "Victory" model .38 (Canadian Marked)
Description: Smith and Wesson .38 or .38/200 Military and Police Pre-Victory model. Double action revolver built on the square-butt K frame with five screws. This S&W has a plethora of markings indicative of a commonwealth pistol, in particular a Canadian pistol. The Canadian mark of a broad arrow inside of a C are stamped next to the serial number near the lanyard ring and at the top of the backstrap near the hammer. This in addition to a “not English made” stamp on the side plate ahead of the trigger and the other Canadian proof markings on the barrel confirm this. Canada was scrambling for weapons after 1939, and with their own production lines being strained they turned to their southern neighbor for assistance. A lot of these pistols would be sent to the RCAF, and in 1940 would be ordered in 6”. This “Victory” is unique in that it does not retain a RCAF marking nor is it in 6”, but instead 5”. Refer to pictures for condition. SOLD |
