SELDOM SEEN MODEL 1899 .32-20 FIRST MODEL HAND EJECTOR, 6 1/2" BARREL, #1XXX,
Description: SELDOM SEEN MODEL 1899 .32-20 FIRST MODEL HAND EJECTOR, 6 1/2" BARREL, #1XXX, ONLY 5311 MADE BETWEEN 1899-1902. Considering that these were made in 4", 5", 6" and 6 1/2" barrel lengths in both blue and nickel finish, there can't be many blue 6 1/2" Model 1899s produced and probably not that many have survived 120+ years until today. Easily identified as having a fully exposed ejector rod not attached to the barrel, this model was made in .32-20 and .38 Special with far fewer made in .32-20. This is a fine example with bright blue on the barrel and most of the left side of the frame and top strap. The right side blue is mixing with plum/brown. Fine blue on the grip straps. Cylinder blue is fine with some thinning and light plum mixing. Fine+ hard rubber grips with the patent dates visible on the bottom left edge- these usually worn away. Bright and vivid case color on the hammer sides and the trigger sides. Very tight action and bright bore with a few scattered spots of corrosion that might brush out. Matching numbers on the frame, cylinder and barrel. In all, a very fine and extremely rare S&W that was the first of the great M&P line.
