Superb Vintage Near Mint M&P .38 Revolver C. 1921
Offered here for sale is a newly acquired classic Smith & Wesson target revolver which was a part of a larger Smith & Wesson collection. This Smith & Wesson Military & Police (M&P) .38 Special revolver with a 6-inch barrel and serial number 627580 was manufactured in 1921. This places it within the production period of the Model of 1905, 4th Change, which spanned from 1915 to 1942, with serial numbers ranging from approximately 500,000 to 758,296.
The Model of 1905, 4th Change, is a double-action revolver chambered in .38 Special. It features a 6-round cylinder and was produced with various barrel lengths, including 4, 5, and 6 inches. This specimen in DESIRABLE 6” length. The model was notable for its durability and was widely used by law enforcement and military personnel during its time.
The bright, high-polish blue finish with only slight wear from the cylinder turn line and minor muzzle wear suggests minimal use and excellent preservation.? It appears it has been used very little if at all and may be only test fired with a few rounds. It has a mint bore and PERFECT grips.
The Model of 1905, 4th Change, is a significant piece of firearm history. Its design and functionality influenced subsequent models, including the Model 10, which became one of the most produced handguns of the 20th century. It would be very difficult to find a better example of this revolver given that it is OVER 100 YEARS OLD.
