WW2 U.S. PROPERTY SMITH & WESSON .38 HAND EJECTOR M&P MILITARY & POLICE PRE-VICTORY MODEL .38SPL 1905 4TH CHANGE 5" REVOLVER, CIRCA 1942.
Description:
WW2 U.S. PROPERTY SMITH & WESSON .38 HAND EJECTOR M&P MILITARY & POLICE PRE-VICTORY MODEL .38SPL 1905 4TH CHANGE 5" REVOLVER, CIRCA 1942. Serial number "960,XXX" with no V prefix so prior to the Victory Model lend lease export contracts. All numbers match on cylinder, under barrel, and butt along with ordnance bomb stamp(with "P" next to that) and a "WB" that stands for Col. Waldemar Broberg-inspector at the time. Probably manufactured early in 1942 and if your so inclined a query to the Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation may shine some light on where this one was shipped to. The revolver has it's original parkerized finish. Case colors still on hammer and trigger. Excellent screws. Crisp markings including the "United States Property" on top strap. Lanyard ring. Original smooth wood grips excellent. Correct front blade. Very clean bore, chambers and rifling. Cylinder stops also very crisp with no dings or excessive cycling. Overall a very honest unused revolver from early in the War. Ofcourse as you can tell from the photos NO import/export markings of any kind. Be a nice addition to any S&W collection or WW2 collection. Of the type carried by Navy and Marine Corps pilots during the Guadalcanal compaign.
