This is a Smith and Wesson model 1917 Brazilian contract. Chambered in 45 ACP, this six-shot double-action revolver has real pearl grips.
25,000 of these revolvers were sold to the Brazilian military in 1937, and only 14,000 were imported back into the United States. The 1917 model was originally adopted during WW1 to supplement the 1911 pistol; used mainly by the American Expidentiary Force, but also used by support troops in the Korean War and by "Tunnel Rats" during the Vietnam War. This revolver has had a lot of impact on American as well as foreign military history, and is a beautiful piece in general.
The gun has been reblued at some point in the past, and the bore is a conservative 75-80% condition. 5.5" barrel.
