Antique Smith & Wesson #2 Old Army. 1865 MFG. Generous Traces of Blue. All Matching. CHEAP !!!
Description: SOLD...Antique Smith & Wesson #2 Old Army. Here is a decent Smith & Wesson #2 Army with S/N 34346 and was MFG. in early 1865. It has the standard 6” barrel and in the .32 Rim Firer caliber of course. As the photos show, this ole Smith still has generous traces of blue on the frame sides and some on the top. Some blue on the butt at the S/N and traces on the barrel down in the rib. Matching assembly numbers on the cylinder, barrel and frame under the grips. The grips are very nice with matching number stamped inside the right grip. Grips have no cracks or chips and still retain about 50% original varnish. They fit perfectly. The markings are excellent. The balance of the gun shows a medium brown patina with some light and minor pitting on the forward area on the cylinder from black powder flash. Gun shows no attempts of any cleaning. The action is in very good working order but a little sticky when you pull back the hammer?? It indexes perfectly and locks up with the normal cylinder play. No front to rear movement on the cylinder. The barrel is rock solid at the hinge and the latch. NO barrel wobble on this one.. Most you will find have that problem but this one is still tight. It has a good hammer that has NOT been broken or repaired. The side plate screw head is slightly larger that standard and is also the hammer stud that screws into the frame as you can see.. I removed the side plate and everything inside looks good so I have no idea why it was replaced. The under barrel ejector rod is a good looking replacement that appears to be glued in?? { see photo } .. Just a decent ole Smith that will display nicely. About as cheap as you are going to find and worth the price I am asking in parts.!! $30 insured shipping.. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. SOLD Antique: Yes |
