1981 Vintage Smith & Wesson Model 25-2 / 1955 Model Revolver in .45 ACP w/ 6" Barrel
** Excellent Shooter/Investment **
Description:
This is a very nice all-original Smith & Wesson Model 25-2 revolver in .45 ACP caliber. This N-frame S&W features a gloss blue factory finish, a pinned 6" inch barrel, a 6-shot cylinder recessed and cut for moon clips, a color case-hardened "target" hammer and "target" trigger, adjustable factory target-style iron sights, and checkered Goncalo Alves target grips. The Model 25 was first introduced in 1955 and remained in production for 36 years until 1991. The model had gone thru 5 engineering changes by the end of the production. The Model 25 was offered in either .45 Long Colt or .45 ACP and various barrel lengths of 4", 5", 6", 6.5", and 8 & 3/8ths" inches. The N-frame DA/SA Smith & Wesson Model 25 proved to be a very well-made, extremely accurate, and superbly reliable wheelgun. This particular example is serial number N829545 manufactured in 1981. It is an all-original gun that has been used lightly but not abused. The factory gloss blue finish is still bright and handsome, showing only some minor wear and handling marks. All of the factory markings are crisp and clean, and the case-colored target hammer and trigger still show a lot beautiful color. The 6" pinned barrel has a perfect bore in this Smith, showing sharp lands and grooves in the rifling and no visible imperfections. The six chambers in the cylinder are also in excellent condition. The original factory Goncalo Alves grips are in very good condition overall with crisp and clean checkering and sharp edges, however there is a small repaired crack on the left grip panel that starts at the upper edge of the speedloader recess and runs down about 5/8" of an inch the lower edge of the speedloader recess. As you can see from the pictures, it does not stand out much and does very little to take away from the handsome looks of this S&W. The action on this Model 25-2 is extremely smooth and slick, and the action is perfectly "in time" no matter how it is operated. All of the controls on this gun are in 100% perfect working order, including the elevation and windage adjustments on the rear sight. There is no doubt that this Smith will function just as well today as the day it left the factory. If you have been looking for a very cool .45 ACP revolver for the range and your collection, this 1981-production S&W Model 25-2 would be a great choice. With good and proper care this Smith could be shot countless times and still be a great long-term investment.
