The Model 25 traces its lineage back though the Model of 1955 and then to the original Model of 1917 when the Smith and Wesson Co. rechambered M&P revolvers into .45 ACP to aid the war effort. They well-known for their accuracy and rather dominated the "Bull's Eye" target competitions for a number of years. S&W produced the 25 in two cal's, .45 ACP and .44 Magnum, in alternating years. This one is a .44 Magnum, with identifying it as a commemoration model to celebrate S&W's 125th Anniversary. .44 Magnum
