The Model 25 is known today for being chambered, depending on the version, for the famous .45 ACP or the legendary .45 Colt, the latter being the cartridge used in the Colt Peacemaker. When chambered in the .45 ACP, the Model 25 is, in a way, the adjustable sight equipped version of the fixed sight Model 1917 revolver built for the U.S. Army during World War I. Like the 1917, the Model 25 must use half-moon or moon clips to ensure ejection of the spent cases given the rebated rim of the .45 ACP compared to the wide rimmed .45 Colt. The moon clips effectively take the place of the rim during extraction and ejection. The version shown is a Model 25-14. This was part of the Classic Series and was introduced in 2006. Made for distributor Lew Horton, only about 250 were manufactured with a blued finish, while another 250 where manufactured with a nickel finish.
