Up for sale is an amazingly pristine 1962 Vintage 44 Magnum Smith & Wesson model 29-1 with 8-3/8” barrel, original bright Blue finish, original Coke Bottle Grips, original clam shell case + tools, and factory authentication letter from Roy Jinks! This is a very desirable and collectible S&W that is not only in Immaculate condition, but also has a factory historical letter confirming it’s originality and authenticity. The 29-1 is one of the rarest variations of the famed Smith & Wesson 44 magnum revolver. Only approximately 70 of the 29-1 model have been documented to exist, and probably less than 20 of which sport the 8-3/8” long barrel. This amazing specimen is absolutely as clean of a model 29 of any vintage that you will ever find, easily rating a solid 99% original finish. This is the typical configuration for a 29-1, having a 3 Screw frame with a Right-Hand threaded ejector rod. As we have often seen in this time period, the cylinder and extractor are numbered and the barrel is not.
It is a stunning example. There is virtually no wear on the gun, including the muzzle and sharp edges. There is only a very light turn line on the cylinder which is not through the blue. The Coke Bottle Grips are virtually mint in condition and wear their original finish. The action is superb. It is very smooth, and the cylinder lockup is rock solid and in perfect time. Bore and chambers are perfect.
The case is in very nice condition as well. The pics show the interior to be well above average.
