This is a beautiful all-original Smith & Wesson Model 36-1 Chief's Special made in 1977 complete with the original box, owner's manual, shipping paper, etc.  This J-frame S&W has the sought-after 3" inch pinned barrel and round butt.  This Model 36-1 is in superb condition inside and out, and has obviously spent the vast majority of it's life in storage.  While there is no way to know for sure, it is clean enough to speculate that it might not have been fired since leaving the S&W factory. The factory gloss blue finish rates a very conservative 98% plus, and you will have to look extremely hard and close to find anything worthy of a point deduction.  The extremely faint drag-line around the cylinder is the only thing keeping it from rating 100%, and as you can see from the pictures you can only see the very faint drag-line at certain angles in certain light conditions.  The color case hardened factory finish on the trigger and hammer is also like-new, and rates 99%.  The bore in this Smith is mirror-bright and pristine with perfect, like-new and sharp rifling and zero visible imperfections.  The 5 chambers in the cylinder are equally as clean and free from defects.  The original factory grips on this 3" inch Model 36 are in excellent condition, free from any visible wear, damage, or repairs.  Both grip panels are perfectly fit to the gun, tight to the frame, and have perfect S&W medallions.  The checkering on both grips is fresh, clean, and crisp, and the grip screw looks unturned.  The action on this Chief's Special is perfectly "in time", precise, and very smooth, whether it is worked in single or double-action operation.  All of the controls on this revolver are in perfect working order, and there is no doubt that it will function 100% like the day it left the factory.  If you have been looking for a minty "investment grade" Smith & Wesson Model 36-1 Chief's Special for your collection, here is your chance to get one of the best examples in existence with the sought-after and scarce 3" inch barrel.
