Up for sale and just acquired is one of the finest classic Smith & Wesson revolvers made – the Chiefs Special .38 revolver with desirable 2” barrel. It has a desirable 2" barrel. Factory grips. 2" barrel.
Based on the serial number J659023, the revolver was manufactured around 1978–1979.
The Chiefs Special is one of Smith & Wesson's most iconic revolvers. Introduced in 1950, it was the first revolver built on the new J-frame, designed specifically to chamber the .38 Special cartridge in a compact five-shot revolver. It quickly became one of the most popular backup and off-duty sidearms for American police officers.

Acquired from a local police officer who had removed the factory grips. When acquired we changed the grips back with original ones. Shows most just holster use at muzzle. Bore excellent. Grips excellent. Retains 97-98% original blue.
