At the meeting, the Smith & Wesson salesforce asked the police chiefs to vote for the new revolver's name. The most commonly suggested name was .38 Chief's Special®. Designed with law enforcement officials' needs in mind, the Chief's Special proved to be a popular revolver for personal protection due to its size and weight. When Smith & Wesson adopted model numbers in 1957, the Chiefs Special became the Model 36. This particular revolver is an early production flat latch in .38 S&W Special; with its 2" barrel and only weighing 20oz, it's the perfect revolver for easy carry. Five shot revolver in 9+0% condition, with some turn marks on the cylinder being its only flaw. This gun would be a perfect addition for the collector or the user.
