The J-frame Model 36 dates back to the early 1950s when it was developed on the new, stronger, frame to support the .38 Special cartridge. There are several variants of this pistol in 2 or 3-inch barrels, as well as fixed and adjustable sights. Other variants include the Model 57 (aluminum alloy) and Model 60 (stainless steel.) The revolvers were designed to be carried by officers/detectives whose first job was discretion. These little pistols practically defined the concealable revolver.
