**SOLD** Smith & Wesson Model 586-3 Silhouette Revolver Chambered in .357 Magnum w/ Box, Etc
** Minty & RARE with Adjustable Silhouette Front Sight**
Description:
Here we have a minty and rare Smith & Wesson 586-3 silhouette revolver chambered in .357 magnum caliber complete with it's original box, warranty card, factory screwdriver, cleaning rod and jigs, and the anti-rust shipping paper. The Smith & Wesson Model 586, is a six-shot DA/SA revolver chambered in the .357 Magnum cartridge; which will also chamber and fire .38 Special cartridges. The Model 586 has a carbon steel construction and was available in a blued or nickel finish. The 586 is essentially the same firearm as the Model 686, which has stainless steel construction. Both the 586 and 686 are also known as the Distinguished Combat Magnum. This particular example is a rare model variation with very limited production between 1986 and 1991 that was factory-built as a competition silhouette gun. The factory gloss blue finish is beautiful and rates 98% plus. The factory case colors are also in like-new condition, rating 98% plus. The 6" inch barrel has a mirror-bright bore with sharp rifling and zero visible imperfections. The 6 chambers of the cylinder are equally as bright and clean. This model variation is unique in that both the front and rear sights are adjustable. The rear is adjustable for windage and elevation like a normal rear target style sight while the front is adjustable for 4 different distance settings. These are pre-set distances that the owner would typically sight in at 40, 50, 75, and 100 meters or yards which correspond with the adjustment wheel on the front sight assembly which has numbers 1 thru 4 marked on it. This allows the shooter to select these pre-set zeros with just a quick turn of the wheel. While 40, 50, 75, and 100 meters were the standard distances for silhouette competition, the owner could pre-set the front sight adjustments at whatever ranges they wanted to. The original Goncalo Alves target grips on this Model 586 are in outstanding condition, exhibiting no cracks, chips or finish loss. The checkering is still crisp and clean and the grips are tight to the frame with zero wiggle. The action on this Smith is extremely smooth, slick, and perfectly "in time". As this was a special model, the trigger was given extra attention from the factory and is superb, breaking with a VERY light pull in single-action firing and a smooth and light pull in double-action. All of the controls on this Smith are in perfect working order, including all of the sight adjustments. As mentioned earlier, this rare Smith comes with it's original box with an intact serial-number matching end-label, factory supplied cleaning rod, screwdriver, allen wrench, cleaning jigs, factory warranty card, and several factory pamphlets. The owner's manual was lost along the way somewhere. If you have been looking for a very cool and rare Smith & Wesson variation for your collection this Model 586-3 Silhouette Revolver would be a superb choice. It would be nearly impossible to upgrade from this beauty in any regard!
