Smith & Wesson Model 629-1 Revolver Chambered in .44 Magnum **Mfg 1987 - Box and Papers - No Lock**
Description:
Presented is a very nice Smith & Wesson Model 629-1 chambered in .44 Magnum caliber. The Smith & Wesson Model 629 is a six-shot, double-action revolver chambered for the .44 Magnum cartridge and manufactured by the United States company Smith & Wesson. The Model 629 was offered with 3, 4, 5, 6, 6+1⁄2, 8+3⁄8 and 10+5⁄8 in (76, 102, 127, 152, 165, 213 and 270 mm) barrels as standard models. Other barrel lengths were available either by special order from Smith & Wesson's Custom Shop or custom built by gunsmiths. The 5-inch (130 mm) barreled variant had a full-length underlug. Finish options available included a highly polished blued or nickel-plated surface. This example is in stainless steel and has an 8 3/8" barrel. Sights are a blade front and adjustable rear. It is wearing a set of Pachmayr recoil reducing grips. It has some light handling and use marks.....overall it is in very good mechanical and physical condition. Lockup is very tight in the "fired" condition and the gap between the cylinder and barrel is minimal. The 8 3/8" barrel has a good bore and strong rifling. It looks like it has been shot a very few times. The rear sight could be remved and a picatinny mount and optic could be fitted. This fine Smith & Wesson would make an excellent addition to a collection or a great deer hunting handgun where permitted. Box and papers included.
