The Model 66 is a K-frame 6-shot stainless steel .357 Magnum revolver that was introduced in 1972, this example, circa 1974, having no dash in the model number and a 4” barrel, complete in its original matching factory shipping box.
Description:
Standard configuration S&W Model 66 -with no dash-, 6-Shot Double-Action Revolver with Swing-Out Fluted Cylinder. The front sight is a stainless ramped blade (no red insert) set on an elevated base which is serrated for glare reduction. The rear sight is a stainless Smith & Wesson square notch micrometer click sight that is adjustable for windage and elevation. The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”. The right side of the barrel is marked “S.&W. 357 MAGNUM”. The yoke cut is marked “4K55522 / MOD. 66”. The sideplate has the S&W monogram logo. The right side of the frame, below the cylinder, is marked with the four-line "Marcas Registradas" address. Semi-beavertail hammer, standard trigger. The grips are two-piece Goncalo Alves checkered Target Stocks with a football cut and S&W medallions. Complete with a crisp original shipping box. No accessories or literature.
Condition:
EXC+ with stainless steel showing only a few minor handling marks. Comparable conditions grips where the left panel has a few tiny flakes of missing finish, but neither grip has any indentations, the checkering remaining sharp. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics with each cylinder indexing properly against mild resistance. VG+ box with minor internal losses from the gun having moved during transit. An extremely early S&W M66, no dash revolver with pinned barrel, recessed cylinder, stainless steel rear sight in original shipping box!
