Up for sale and just acquired is this very fine and pristine Smith & Wesson K-22 Masterpeice Model target .22 revolver. The original designation (pre-1957) for collectors is the K-22 Masterpiece — this is what Smith & Wesson and collectors call the classic adjustable-sight, .22 LR revolver built on the medium-size K-frame after WWII. It’s a “target” style revolver.
Post-1957 the Model was numbered Model 17 — in 1957 S&W began using numerical model identifiers; the same gun was then stamped and cataloged as Model 17, still often still described with the “K-22 Masterpiece” name. The serial number prefix “K” on S&W revolvers indicates a post-WWII K-frame gun. Based on known production records and serial number tables this specimen, serial number K216565 clearly falls in the production group around 1954.
The specimen has a 6″ barrel, factory checkered medallion grips, and excellent vibrant case colors. Medium-frame .22 LR target revolver with adjustable sights. It retains nearly all of its original blue with just a slight cylinder turn mark. Images show just a bit of dried oil in recesses which will clean before shipping. Excellent bore. Grips fine with minor use marks in base. We would rate it a 99% condition specimen.
A very usable gun however as a vintage 1954 production certainly a very COLLECTIBLE piece.

Pristine S&W K-22 Masterpiece C. 1954

Up for sale and just acquired is this very fine and pristine Smith & Wesson K-22 Masterpeice Model target .22 revolver. The original designation (pre-1957) for collectors is the K-22 Masterpiece — this is what Smith & Wesson and collectors call the classic adjustable-sight, .22 LR revolver built on the medium-size K-frame after WWII. It’s a “target” style revolver.
Post-1957 the Model was numbered Model 17 — in 1957 S&W began using numerical model identifiers; the same gun was then stamped and cataloged as Model 17, still often still described with the “K-22 Masterpiece” name. The serial number prefix “K” on S&W revolvers indicates a post-WWII K-frame gun. Based on known production records and serial number tables this specimen, serial number K216565 clearly falls in the production group around 1954.
The specimen has a 6″ barrel, factory checkered medallion grips, and excellent vibrant case colors. Medium-frame .22 LR target revolver with adjustable sights. It retains nearly all of its original blue with just a slight cylinder turn mark. Images show just a bit of dried oil in recesses which will clean before shipping. Excellent bore. Grips fine with minor use marks in base. We would rate it a 99% condition specimen.
A very usable gun however as a vintage 1954 production certainly a very COLLECTIBLE piece.
