S&W K-22 Masterpiece Revolver Identified 1948
Description:
Serial #K36025, .22 LR, 6 inch barrel with an excellent, bright bore.
Built in 1948 this is a handsome revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, yoke, cylinder, and extractor.
The metal retains 80-85% of the original blue with silvering along the sides of the barrel, on the ejector rod, as well as a turn-ring on the cylinder.
There is some further silvering along the high and projecting edges, and the hammer and trigger retain about 90% plus of the original color case-hardening.
A previous owner’s name has been tastefully engraved on the left side of the frame: “R.B. HAYES", and the diamond-center stocks are in very good plus shape with minor handling marks, small blemishes, and moderate flattening of the points.
The revolver was the property of Mr. Rutherford B. “R.B." Hayes, of Kinston, NC (1916-2004).
Hayes was a PFC in the US Army during WW2, and served in 87th Mountain Division, winning a Bronze Star in April of 1945.
He worked for Hampton Industries after the war and would’ve acquired the revolver during his post-war civilian employment.
This is a great looking K-22 that rates very good plus condition overall.
