Smith & Wesson ~ Pre-Model 27 ~ .357 Magnum
Description: This 1956 N-Frame five-screw double action revolver is a Smith & Wesson Pre-Model 27 chambered in .357 Magnum. This is the first Magnum model that Smith & Wesson built. It is the only model to have the checkered top strap and rib and is considered the top of the line. They were justifiably proud of the revolver and lavished all their knowledge and expertise on it. It has the satin blued finish, a fixed blade front sight, a micrometer click adjustable rear sight, a case-hardened and grooved trigger, a 6½" pinned barrel, a fluted, counterbored cylinder, and an extra wide, checkered and case-hardened hammer. The rear face of the cylinder is marked "158731" consistent with the serial on the butt of the frame. As Smith and Wesson's top of the line model, they reserved the checkered top strap and rib to and for that model alone. "This is the finest handgun we make, period," and we lavish a lot of attention to detail on THIS revolver. If you read back through the records and interviews, the N frame 357 Magnum was always considered S&W's Premier revolver and as such they saved the top strap checkering as a feature unique to it. The satin blued finish is in very fine condition with no observable handling wear. There is a fine drag line on the cylinder. The walnut stocks are in good condition, with the right grip panel showing a dent at the very top, and also some light handling marks at the bottom of both grip panels. The bore is bright and shiny with excellent rifling intact. It comes with the Dark blue Smith and Wesson box and oil paper. .357 Magnum SOLD Chambers: 6-round counterbored cylinder Metal Condition: The satin blued finish is in very fine condition with no observable handling wear Wood Condition: "The walnut stocks are in good condition, with the right grip panel showing a dent at the very top, and also some light handling marks at the bottom of both grip panels Bore Condition: Bore is bright and shiny with excellent rifling intact Barrels: 6½ inch pinned barrel Triggers: "Case-hardened, grooved trigger Stock Dimensions: 12 inches overall length Fore End: Shrouded ejector rod Butt Pad: Smith and Wesson emblem walnut grips Weight: 3 lb 0 oz Sights: "Fixed blade front sight, micrometer click adjustable rear sight Item Location: Wichita, KS |
