Description:
MINTY CONDITION TRIPLE LOCK .44 SPECIAL, 6 1/2" NICKEL FINISH, #11XXX, MADE 1913. This outstanding Triple Lock has all matching numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder and under the blued ejector star. The checkered walnut grips with deep dish medallions are excellent and fit perfectly (grips are not numbered). This one shows a five-point star by the serial number on the butt indicating that it went back to the factory for repairs or refinishing. I don't believe it has been refinished as the markings, including the S&W frame logo, are sharp and clear as are all the serial numbers and the inside nickel shows the correct un-polished finish. Also, the knurled parts (hammer, ejector rod head, cylinder release) show no dings or wear as usually found on refinished guns. Also, importantly, all the edges in the yoke and frame are knife-sharp. There are no signs or pitting with nickel in the pits, dings in the front sight edges or any other indication of refinishing. The bore is bright and excellent and the hammer and trigger show good case color. Under the grips on the frame is stamped "6 . 20" indicating this revolver was sent back to S&W in June of 1920. Tight superb Triple Lock hand fitted action. Super condition inside and out and more scarce with nickel finish.
