Featuring Beautiful Pearl Grips
Here we present a Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless 4th Model Revolver, manufactured circa 1907 in Springfield, Massachusetts. They were also known as the “New Departure” or the “Lemon Squeezer”, the latter due to the safety bar on the backstrap. This little revolver holds 5 shots of .38 S&W. It was designed to meet the defensive needs of citizens and law enforcement in the late 19th Century. This is a top break design with an automatic ejector, hammerless design and grip safety. These features made it great for pocket carry.
This S&W Revolver features a great nickel finish with pearl grips. The left side of the barrel is marked “.38 S&W CTG”. The top of the barrel is marked ‘SMITH&WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS U.S.A./PAT’D OCT.2.1880, AUG.4.1885, APRIL.9.1889”.
The overall condition is very good. The revolver was nickel plated again at some point with 98% remaining. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The pearl grips are in very good shape. The bore is in good shape. The action is excellent. A nice example of one of Smith & Wesson’s most recognizable revolvers!
