Made Circa 1900

Here we present a Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless “Lemon Squeezer” 4th Model Revolver, manufactured circa 1900 in Springfield, Massachusetts. They were also known as the “New Departure” or the “Lemon Squeezer”, the latter due to the safety bar on the backstrap. This little revolver holds 5 shots of .38 S&W. It was designed to meet the defensive needs of citizens and law enforcement in the late 19th Century. This is a top break design with an automatic ejector, hammerless design and grip safety. These features made it great for pocket carry.

This S&W Revolver features a beautiful nickel finish with hard rubber grips. The top of the barrel is marked ‘SMITH&WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS U.S.A./PAT’D MAY 11.80, OCT.2.83.2.AUG.4.85.OCT.11.87. FEB.14.88. APR.9.89.Jun.3.90”.

The overall condition is fine. The original nickel finish is virtually complete. The case colors on the trigger are vibrant. The markings are clear and legible. The hard rubber grips are in great shape but a bit shy as they are for the .32 caliber model. The bore is in good condition. The action is excellent. Here is a fantastic looking .38 S&W Lemon Squeezer!
