VERY FINE RARE MODEL 1926 .44 HAND EJECTOR 3RD MODEL, DESIRABLE 4”, NICKEL. MADE 1931
Description: VERY FINE RARE MODEL 1926 .44 HAND EJECTOR 3RD MODEL WITH DESIRABLE 4” BARREL, NICKEL FINISH, # 38XXX, MADE 1931. Most of these were ordered by Wolf & Klar of Fort Worth, Texas and were very popular with Law Enforcement and Border Patrol officers. Many of this model saw hard use and are either found in poor condition or refinished. This example shows some very minor scattered nickel peeling with most of the bright nickel remaining, even on the grip straps. Matching numbers on the barrel, cylinder and frame. Correct grips fit well and are unmarked inside. All very sharp markings including the S&W logo on the left side of the frame with only the front portion of the “SMITH” in the “SMITH & WESSON” stamping a little weak which I believe is from light stamping from the factory that the nickel finish filled in a bit- all other barrel and frame markings are clear and sharp. Still some good case color on the trigger with a little less on the hammer. Tight action and bright minty bore. Most of these I’ve seen over the years have had 5” barrels with 4” like this one much less common. One of the more difficult of the big “N” frame Pre-War Smiths to locate. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Handgun Caliber: .44 Special Manufacturer: SMITH & WESSON Model: 1926 44 H-E 3RD. Serial Number: 38XXX Barrel Length: 4 Condition: EXCELLENT Bore Condition: EXCELLENT |
