Description: EXCEPTIONALLY RARE "LADYSMITH 6" TARGET 3RD MODEL" .22 LONG CALIBER, #17XXX, MADE 1910-1921. Serial numbers on these Third .”22 Perfected” Models ran from 13951-26154. That puts this in the “early” category. Almost all of production was made in 3” and 3 ½” barrel lengths with the 6” Target version rarely seen. This one shows good lightly aged blue on the frame and good cylinder blue with some thinning. The barrel shows some flaking and thinning of the blue with good deep blue on at least half of the length. Exc. Markings and matching numbers on the frame, cylinder and barrel. Back strap is mostly gray/brown with better blue on the butt, front strap and trigger guard. Adjustable rear sight with copper blade/long bead front sight. Tight action and excellent bore. On the grip panels on the butt is “dot stamped” very lightly with small initials and “5.8.11.” which I assume is the date of May 8, 1911. By the low serial number this would be about right. Even advanced S&W or .22 collections rarely contain one of these.
