PRE-MODEL 35, 6" .22LR "KIT GUN" #35912, MADE ABOUT 1953
Description: PRE-MODEL 35, 6" .22LR "KIT GUN" #35912, MADE ABOUT 1953. this is another mystery gun that I can't quite figure out. the number on the frame matches the number on the early style diamond checkered grips and the assembly number on the crane matches the number on the grip strap under the grips. However, the barrel with red ramp front sight appears to be of a later style and is not serial numbered and the cylinder has no serial number. The overall revolver is in about new condition and shows no sign of being worked on or refinished in any way. Opening the cylinder, the frame that in later guns has the model designation stamping shows the letter "M" with a "5" with a circle around it. Seems to me that if someone damaged the barrel and sent it back to the factory at a later date for replacement, there would be a date stamped on the frame under the grips PLUS why would the cylinder need replacing? Again, even if someone wanted to turn a standard 4" Kit Gun (M-34) into a 6" (M-35) why swap cylinders? A Smith & Wesson letter might prove interesting on this one. Regardless, it is in like new condition with correct flat latch etc. Only a student of S&W would even question the aspects mentioned. (note: any flaws in the blue is just oil and light reflection)
