Rare “2D QUALITY” SMITH & WESSON No. 1 Second Issue .22 REVOLVER Antique
S&W ROLLIN WHITE “Bored Through Cylinder” Patent
Description: Rare “2D QUALITY” SMITH & WESSON No. 1 Second Issue .22 REVOLVER Antique S&W ROLLIN WHITE “Bored Through Cylinder” Patent Here we present an antique Smith & Wesson Model No. 1 Second Issue Revolver with the Rare “2D QUALITY” marking. The No. 1 Second Issues were manufactured circa 1860 to 1868 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Approximately 117,000 were made with only 4,402 bearing the quality marking due to some flaw or other—usually in the casting of the frame in our experience. The No. 1 was Smith & Wesson’s first metallic cartridge firearm. It utilized the idea of the “bored through cylinder”, which was patented by Rollin White and subsequently exclusively licensed by Smith & Wesson. The overall condition is very good. This piece was refinished in nickel at some point. On the right side of the frame you can observe the circular aberration which we believe is the reason this was marked as second tier quality. The action (hammer/trigger) is excellent. The cylinder advances but the lockup is weak due to the design. The rosewood grips are in great shape. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3-1/4 inches. Caliber: .22 Short Rimfire (Black powder) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1600 #217472 SOLD Antique: Yes |
