Description: 1902 SMITH & WESSON .38 Military & Police .38 SPECIAL Revolver S&W M&P C&R HAND EJECTOR 2nd Model DOUBLE ACTION Revolver Here we present a C&R Smith & Wesson .38 Hand Ejector Military & Police 2nd Model Double Action Revolver manufactured early in its three-year production run between 1899 and 1902 in Springfield, Massachusetts. It was chambered for the new .38 S&W Special cartridge and featured a 6-shot fluted cylinder. These were early swing-out cylinder revolvers and this one improved on the 1st Model with the addition of the lug on the bottom of the barrel for the cylinder arbor pin, creating a stronger lockup and some protection for the pin. This one was made for commercial sale to the public and police, rather than military contracts. It maintains its excellent original finishes with nicely polished surfaces prior to bluing. Handsome checkered walnut grips. You can see that the front sight has been shaped so as to hit point of aim point of impact for the original user and their ammo choice. This piece is interesting to us as the serial number puts it into the 1st Model range though the lug on the bottom of the barrel for the cylinder lockup and the patent dates on the barrel are 2nd Model features. The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish and case colors. The action is excellent and the bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. The grips are fantastic with sharp checkering and handsome grain. Numbers match on the barrel, frame, and cylinder. A great piece! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
