1974 Vintage Smith & Wesson Model 18-3 .22 Rimfire Revolver
** Excellent Pinned & Recessed Shooter ** SOLD
Description:
This is one of Smith & Wesson's finest .22 rimfire revolvers. This is a 1974 vintage Smith & Wesson Model 18-3 with a 4" inch pinned barrel, recessed chambers, adjustable target sights, and checkered "diamond" grips. Due to poor long-term storage conditions the exterior of the gun has some finish issues, however, the barrel bore, cylinder bores, and mechanics are all in perfect working order. It is very likely that this pistol has had a couple hundred rounds fired thru it at the very most. As you can see from the pictures, while both sides of the pistol show light pitting and finish loss, the right side of the Smith shows less original finish than the left. The bore shows nice strong rifling and no pitting, erosion, or imperfections. The cylinder bores are equally as clean and free from imperfections. The original grips are in good condition overall. Both sides are free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major wear/damage, and they are both nice and tight to the grip frame. The action on this Model 18 is superb, smooth and precise and perfectly "in time". At full lock-up there is no play in the cylinder whatsoever. The trigger on this Model 18 is excellent, particularly in single action operation where the trigger breaks with a very light pull without any grit, slop, or excessive travel. This Smith & Wesson Model 18-3 would be the perfect choice for someone wanting a trail gun or plinker whom appreciates the excellent quality of workmanship, mechanics, and accuracy of these 1970's Smiths that isn't too worried about having it look pretty.
