This is a VERY NICE and RARE Smith and Wesson .45 Target Model of 1955 Pre-Model 25.
It is a 6-shot double and single action N-Target frame revolver with a square-butt and 5-screws.
It is chambered in .45 ACP, has a 6.5 inch solid rib pinned barrel, and a bore that is in excellent condition.
Based on the Smith and Wesson factory letter, this revolver was made during the 1st year of production in 1955 and was shipped on July 6th, 1955 to Paxton & Gallagher Co., Omaha, NE.
The revolver has all the original features it had when it shipped from the factory based on the factory letter.
The blue finish is in SPECTACULAR condition.
The cylinder rod cut, rear of cylinder, and butt of the frame are all marked with the matching serial number "S143212".
The timing and lock up are perfect based on visual inspection.
It has a fluted cylinder, a shrouded ejector rod, checkered cylinder release, a wide checkered target hammer, and a wide serrated target trigger.
The trigger and hammer have a color case finish. The yoke cut and yoke are marked “59219”.
The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”.
The right side of the frame is marked with the large S&W emblem, “MADE IN U.S.A.”, and the Marcas Registradas.
The right side of the barrel is marked “45 CAL. MODEL 1955”.
The top strap and rib are serrated with a matte finish to reduce glare.
The fixed front sight is a blade that is forged to a serrated ramp.
The rear sight is a serrated square-notch that is fully adjustable.
It has 2-piece diamond checkered walnut grips with silver S&W emblems.
The grips are in great shape with no cracks.
The underside of the grips are not marked. The back strap is serrated.
The factory original box and manual are included, and the underside of the box is marked with the correct serial number.
This revolver qualifies as a Curio and Relic and can ship where legally allowed.
This RARE vintage revolver would make a great addition to any firearms collection.
