Single Finest Smith & Wesson Model 57 Factory Class A PLUS Engraved 47 Extra Hours of Engraving Nickel Factory Letter PUBLISHED MINT CONDITION
Description: A factory letter accompanies this truly extraordinary Model 57 confirming the incredible configuration and detailing its original shipment on December 4, 1968 to Paul N. Van Hee in Warren, Michigan. Note this gun is pictured in Michael Kennelly’s wonderful book Smith & Wesson Engraving on page 264. The gun is equipped with a 6” barrel, original nickel finish, smooth presentation rosewood target stocks, red ramp front sight and white outline rear. This is the only Class A+ factory engraved Model 57 known! Knowledgeable collectors are aware that Class A factory engraved guns could be special ordered with additional time spent on-top-of the already lavish standard Class A engraving. The plain gun was billed at $185, plus the Class A engraving charge of $185, in addition to 47 extra hours of engraving at $7.50/hour. That totals over $700 for a single gun, a tremendous sum of money when the gun was ordered in 1968. This is one of Russ Smith’s finest examples and features incredibly deep and fine floral scrollwork on a mixed punch dot and finely matted background. Near total coverage! This investment-grade .41 Magnum rates 99%+ on any scale and appears brand-new. No finer factory embellished example of the model exists. Be sure to check out our other listings as we are in the process of selling a large, extensive and high-grade collection. Many more items are to be listed in the next few weeks so keep a close eye out! We take great pride in our packing and shipping! Postage and insurance is $40. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
