The barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON” on the Left Side; “*22 LONG RIFLE CTG*” on the Right Side. This Revolver has a Medium Width Checkered (Low Spur) Hammer; Frame-Mounted Rimfire Firing Pin; Serrated Trigger; Frame-Mounted (fixed) Trigger Stop. The Barrel is Pinned and the Cylinder is Recessed with Matching Serial Number on the Rear Cylinder Face. The Bore is Bright with Sharp Rifling; and the Chambers are Bright and Shiny. The Blued Finish shows very little wear for its age (75+ years) as shown in the photographs. As described in reference works, the unusual transverse hole through the bottom strap (behind the grip locator pin) indicates this frame was configured for a lanyard loop before it’s selection as a rimfire-target model.
