This Smith & Wesson 1917/1937 D.A.45 revolver is 5 round double-action pistols chambered in 45 ACP with a pinned 5.5" barrel. This one is a Brazilian contract revolver. It's built on the large square butt N frame. The front sight is a large 1/10' front sight blade with a frame notch rear sight. There is a threaded spot for a Lanyard ring under the grips. The frame and barrel are matched serial numbers. The top of the barrel is marked with a 2-line S&W address/patent dates. "S&W D.A. 45" on left side of barrel. Small S&W trademark on left side of frame. "Made in USA" on the right side of frame. (All Correct for Brazilian Contract guns) Brazilian Crest, 1937 date on side plate. With 25,000 Model 1917's were made for the Brazilian Government. Large quantities were imported back to the U.S. in 1990, but this one has no visible import mark. The cylinder and trigger have been replaced. The cylinder does have some side/side play when in lockup. .45 ACP
