SMITH & WESSON Double Action .38 REGULATION POLICE .38 S&W Cal Revolver C&R VERY NICE 3 Digit LOW SERIAL # with ORIGINAL BOX
Description: SMITH & WESSON Double Action .38 REGULATION POLICE .38 S&W Cal Revolver C&R VERY NICE 3 Digit LOW SERIAL # with ORIGINAL BOX Here we present a C&R Pre-World War I Three Digit Serial Numbered Smith & Wesson .38 Regulation Police Double Action Revolver manufactured circa 1917 (prior to the United States declaration of war on Germany) in Springfield, Massachusetts. The .38 version revolvers were produced between 1917 and 1940 with its own serial number sequence ranging between 1 and 54474, when commercial production was suspended again for wartime contracts. The words "Regulation Police" were never featured on the gun. It came with a 5 shot fluted cylinder. The Regulation Police line was introduced in March of 1917, about a month before the United States declared war on Germany. Later that year the company was given over completely to wartime production of the U.S. Army Model of 1917, a heavy-frame revolver that chambered the .45 ACP cartridge. Thus only a few thousand Regulation Police revolvers were produced before production was curtailed. Production did not ramp up again until 1919. The Regulation Police was available in two calibers, the .32 Long and .38 S&W (not to be confused with the 38 S&W Special). The .38 S&W is the shorter and less powerful cartridge that S&W introduced for their top break revolvers in later years. The .32 version was numbered in the .32 Hand Ejector series that had been running for 15 years. The exact production numbers are not known. The .32 was a six-shot revolver; the .38 cylinder carried only five rounds. The overall condition is excellent. Original nickel finish. Robust action. Bright bore. Both grips are in fine shape with sharp checkering. Numbers match. Sharp markings. The original box is in very good shape. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 4 inches. Caliber: .38 S&W Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1500 #226820 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
