Smith & Wesson Pre Model 36 Chief's Special - .38 S&W Special

We have today what looks like a S&W Pre Model 36 Chief's Special in .38 S&W Spl (not .38 Spl).  There is no model number stamped on the yoke.  The revolver is in very good condition with no rust or corrosion.  The bluing has wear areas on some of the sharp edges, bbl and cylinder what I'm guessing is from a holster.  The wood grips are chip and crack and numbered to the gun.  There are some compressions and small dings.  The bore is very good with strong rifling and very shiny.  The front ramp is serrated with some small red dots added.  I know not what or why.

This is a very nice Smith & Wesson revolver and would make a great carry piece, range toy or one for the collection.  I am in no way an expert in the older S&W revolvers so any correction or added information to the listing would be appreciated.  There is no box but just what is shown.  The revolver is qualified for C&R transfers.  The revolver will enjoy the standard GI 3 day no firing nor disassembly inspection beginning when the parcel is delivered you the FFL as shown by USPS tracking.
