VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND S&W PRE-21, .44 HAND EJECTOR 4TH MODEL MILITARY (MODEL OF 1950 .44 MILITARY), #S 142XXX, MADE 1955. Only about 1200 of these big N frame .44 Specials were made from 1950-1957 and they rarely show up for sale. In fact, you can look for years at gun shows and listings and not find one of these. This one has the short 4” barrel- of the few I’ve seen most seem to have a 5” barrel. This one is mechanically excellent with bright exc. bore. There is blue wear mainly on the grip straps and edges of the cylinder, muzzle etc. No doubt a law enforcement gun that saw a lot of holster carry. The grips are the correct style, fit well and show considerable wear, but are numbered on the inside somewhat higher than the number on this example. All markings are sharp and clear, still some good case color on the hammer and trigger. One of the most difficult of the Post-War S&Ws to find.
