Civil War Starr Model 1858 Army Revolver
Description: Serial #15342, .44 Caliber, 6" barrel with a good bore that has dark freckling within the grooves. This is an attractive revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, and barrel, with an overall smooth pewter gray patina throughout. Some hints of the original color case-hardening can still be seen on the loading lever. The one-piece walnut grip has a faint US inspector cartouche on the right side, and has numerous small handling marks and blemishes throughout. Additionally, there are some stable, with-the-grain cracks at the top of the grip on either side. The lock-up is tight, and the action is functional, however the hammer return spring no longer works reliably. This is a very nice US-purchased Civil War revolver that has a great antique look, and would make a great piece for display. Antique SOLD |
