The Starr DA .44 cylinder holds in each chamber 33 grains (2.1 g) of powder, the bullet weighs 138 grains (8.9 g)
These were made between 1862-1863 with a total of 23000 produced
A very unique design of the trigger system, rather than a simple trigger pull or hammer manipulation, the Starr employed two controls, a forward “firing-lever” (which today we would see as a trigger) and back-mounted “trigger” which really was more like a sear
