The Taurus 605 Defender is very comparable to the Smith & Wesson Model 60. It too is a 5-shot defensive revolver chambered for the .357 Magnum. The example shown here is SKU # 2-60531NS. It features a 3-inch long. While most defensive revolvers have 2-inch or shorter barrels, 3-inch barrels on a self-defense revolver have always had a following in the U.S. for a few reasons. One reason is that the longer barrel increases velocity and therefore energy. It also provides a slightly greater bit of accuracy compared to the 2-inch barrel. Another reason is that the longer barrel helps to balance the gun better. Finally, the revolver simply looks better with the longer barrel. The barrel is also full-lugged to reduce recoil.
