British Mk. VI Service Revolver (Canadian Navy Marked)
Description: Serial #263615, .455 Webley, 6" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This revolver has matching numbers on the frame and barrel, with the metal retaining approximately 75-80% of an armory reapplied blue finish that has silvered and faded along the raised edges, projections, and bearing surfaces. The unnumbered, Mk. V cylinder was added by naval armorers, and is stamped “C^N" twice around the circumference. mottled brown flaking on the topstrap, trigger guard, and gripstraps. Further “C^N" marks are present on the left side of the barrel assembly, and left side of the frame, with a small “N" naval mark at the frame knuckle, and deeply carved naval Broad Arrow on the topstrap. The checkered hard rubber grips are in very good shape with some flattening of the points, as well as numerous scratches on either side. Additionally, the right panel has warped slightly and has a noticeable gap at the top were it meets the frame. The lock-up is still tight and the mechanism functions flawlessly. Appendix D of “Canadian Military Handguns 1855-1985" by Clive Law (1994), lists this serial number present at Royal Canadian Navy Barracks, Esquimalt, BC. This is a very good example of the only Canadian Navy marked Webley we have ever seen offered for sale, and rates very good plus condition overall.
