Royal Navy Webley Model 1912 .455 Mk.1 N Pistol
Description: Serial #65, .455 Webley Auto, 3 5/8” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This 1913 dated pistol is one of the very first Webley automatics accepted by the Royal Navy in 1913 (The number "3" on the top of the slide may signify this). The pistol retains 95-97% of the original blue finish that has silvering at the muzzle and along the raised edges and projections. Some mild fading has occurred along the top bearing surface of the barrel breech and there are some small handling blemishes scattered about the surface of the metal as well. All of the British military acceptance stamps are clear and crisp, as are the Webley trademark and model markings along the left side of the slide. The checkered hard rubber grips are intact without any cracks or chips and the pistol comes with a single, original, acceptance stamped magazine. These pistols were approved for use by the Royal Navy in 1912 with the first shipments occurring the following year. This two-digit example is one of the very first pistols received and has survived the intervening 103 years in excellent condition, indeed, it is one of the best examples we have ever seen. {Ref. “Webley & Scott Automatic Pistols” by Gordon Bruce; 1992} FFL or C&R SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Manufacturer: Webley Model: 1912 Serial Number: 65 Caliber Info: .455 Gauge Info: .455 |
