Webley RIC No. 1 Revolver Australian Property Marked (Published)
Description: Serial #34283, .442 CF, 4" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This is a handsome revolver that has retained 90-95% of the original bright blue finish with scattered small surface scratches, and some small areas of flaking with plum-brown freckling where the finish is gone. The hammer, trigger, and cylinder pin have most of their original arsenal bright finish remaining, with some mild freckling along the edges. The topstrap is marked: “P. WEBLEY & SON / BIRMINGHAM"; the right side of the frame has the Webley “Winged Bullet" trademark; as well as a large Queensland Government property mark engraved onto the left side of frame: “QG / (Broad Arrow)". The checkered walnut grip is in very good shape with flattening of the points and scattered bruises marring the oil finish. This very revolver is illustrated on page 76 of “Webley Revolvers" by Bruce and Reinhart (1988), as well as on page 175 of “Webley Solid Frame Revolvers – Models RIC, MP, and No. 5" by Black, Davis, and Michaud (2010). This is a very good example of an Australian military-marked RIC revolver that has been published in two of the most respected Webley reference books.
