Whitney Armory, 2nd model Navy, .36 cal.
Description: Whitney Civil War “Navy” Revolver. 2nd Model Navy, 3rd Type. Caliber .36 with 7 ½” octagon, seven land barrel. Serial # 13851. Made from 1850 to early 1860. Serial number is under the left grip and top of the loading rod. This is the best one of these I have ever seen. Revolver has 99% original blue fading to a smooth dark grey with absolutely no rust, pitting or deformations. There are darker areas in the finish around the rear of the cylinder fading to brown but they are perfectly smooth not pitted. There is also some lighter darker finish shading around the barrel throat opening so possibly both are flash burn from being fired. Original frame screws look untouched. This is a very popular and well made Civil War revolver. Top of barrel is marked “E.WHITNEY over N. HAVEN” along with a US by an anchor. Bore is bright and shiny with distinct lands and grooves Cylinder is marked with an anchor over US and a small G on the other side. Mechanics are like new with distinct clicks and everything rock solid tight. Three screw frame with brass trigger guard. Only a very few light small dents on the walnut grips. No ding or dents on bottom of grips. The fame under the left side of the grip is marked with G 13851. Antique so can be mailled directly to buyer. Payment by bank/cashiers check or money order. Shipping $50 anywhere in continental US.
