Alex Henry ~ Falling Block Rifle
Description: This Alex Henry Falling Block Rifle, serial number #5579, is a truly unique and historic firearm. It is believed to be approximately over 140 years old, circa 1880s. *PLEASE NOTE* The rifle caliber is not stamped anywhere but is believed to be .450 3-1/4" BPE due to the high number of rifles produced in that caliber during that time. This rifle features a 28-inch barrel with block-mounted bead fore-sight and rear adjustable open-sights. The top of the barrel is engraved "ALEXr. HENRY. EDINBURGH. LONDON.", the standing breech is engraved with action use number "PATENT 1872". It has a back-action lock with bolted high-spurred dolphin style hammer, border engraving retaining traces of original case-hardening and finish, 14in. Figured pistol grip stock with steel buttplate, fore-end with crosspin release and both the forend and stock share diamond checkering.
