Description:
This .416 Rem Mag is a collaboration between Morris Melani and myself from over a decade ago. The Alaskan guide that received the rifle decided it was too beautiful to take afield, so it remained stored until today when it’s on offer for sale.
Morris’s fully-integral barrel features a full length rib with a raised quarter rib and front sight ramp. It also has a secondary recoil lug and sling swivel. All of the features are works of art with a unique flare not seen elsewhere.
The Pre-64 action was completely gone through. Blueprinted, surface ground, internally polished. A checkered bolt handle added, built up and checkered bolt release, Sunny Hill bottom metal added. Of course Morris’ quick-detach scope rings and bases were used.
The stock was crafted from a gorgeous piece of English walnut in a classic English design. The 26 LPI wrap-around checkering remains as sharp as it was when it left the shop over a decade ago.
Other than the rounds used to test fire the gun and regulate the sights, the rifle remains in an unfired condition. There is, however, some handling marks in the stock. It appears to have been bumped against other guns in the safe. I believe the pictures represent this well.
