1967 Browning Superposed - Diana - 12ga RKLT - 28in barrels choked mod/full - double signed by Angelo Bee - w/ Browning Letter & Case
Description:
According to several authorities, the hey-day of the Browning Superposed production high grades (Pigeon, Pointer, Diana, and the Midas) began in the early 1960’s. Each grade is an engraved work of art, and each has a story of its creation. The Diana is the successor to the Grade V of the 50’s, second in in the high-grade hierarchy to the Midas, and ranking above the Pointer and the Pigeon.
According to the book, The Browning Superposed by Ned Schwing, Browning commissioned Louis Vrancken to refine the new Diana design. Vrancken succeeded Felix Funken as Chief of the Engravers at FN/Browning in Belgium upon Funken’s retirement. Only the most experienced engravers were allowed to work on the Diana Grade.
The Diana is a favorite engraving design authorized by Browning. I looked for several years before I found this excellent sample engraved by Angelo Bee, one of Browning’s master engravers in Liege, Belgium. Look at the detail of the feathers, the leaves of the trees, the blades of grass, and the anatomically correct birds. This sample by master engraver Angelo Bee is one of the best Diana engravings I have ever seen.
This is a round knob long tang (RKLT) gun made in 1967. 28in barrels. Choked M/F. LOP is the Browning factory standard of 14-3/8". Gun has been tested with silver nitrate, and the stocks are salt free. Includes the original gun case. Also comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Browning Historian (Glen Jensen, now retired).
