Antique RECTOR-ROBSON Half-Stock BACK ACTION Percussion LONG RIFLE Kentucky Style Long Rifle Made Circa the 1840s
Description: Antique RECTOR-ROBSON Half-Stock BACK ACTION Percussion LONG RIFLE Kentucky Style Long Rifle Made Circa the 1840s Here we present an antique J.H. Rector/J.O. Robson Half Stock Percussion Target/Sporting Rifle, made circa 1850-53 by the partnership of John H. Rector and James O. Robson. Rector and Robson partnered between the years of 1850 through 1853 prior to Robson going out on his own. John Rector was a local gunsmith in Buffalo, NY who produced high quality firearms from the 1830’s through the 1860’s. Rector’s specialty was heavy percussion target rifles and somewhat lighter plains rifles for westward expansion. A historical directory from 1850 shows that his gun making business was located on Water Street in Syracuse. This rifle features a single trigger, tang-mounted peep sight, and a simple round patch box. There is a brass sheet repair just ahead of the back action lock. There are many markings a top the octagonal barrel including, “JO. ROBINSON, “BUFFLAO”, “No. 191”, and “J.H. RECTOR. The overall condition is very good. The action is strong. The bore is in good shape. All markings are legible. A very neat frontier rifle from New York! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 32 inches. Caliber: .40 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
